LETHAL GUEST – 4yo (06/02/2016 gr g)

Trainer: Ollie Pears

Sire: Lethal Force (IRE) (7f)

Dam: Holberg Suite (GB)

Dam’s Sire: Azamour (IRE) (10.5f)

Lethal Guest had a troubled 2019 suffering a few set back and has never really shown his true potential due to racing with niggling injuries throughout the season. Hotspots and sore points were highlighted when he underwent a fully body scan and he was given plenty of time to rest and recover from those niggles.

He started 2020 with a race over the straight mile at Newcastle, they went a blistering early pace for the grade (Lethal Guest running the first 4 furlongs in 49.92 seconds, and first 5 furlongs in 1m 2.76!) and not surprisingly he tired late on, as did most of the others, and this was his first race back after 7 months off.

Lethal Guest has the longest peak stride of all our horses, and based on his cadence (strides per minute) that also indicates a step up in trip will be more suitable.

Ollie still believes there is potential with him and wants to step him up in trip to 1m 4f or 1m 6f next.

The plan when things resume will be to give him a couple of ‘enjoyable’ racecourse experiences. The first one will be to drop him in at the back, and try and get him to settle, and see if he gets the distance. As we saw with the fast start at Newcastle he was ‘lit up’ and racing keen with them early so we will try and get him cover and switched off and relaxed, and then finishing off his races.

Ollie has them ticking over at 80% currently so he will no doubt come on for the run.

He is now at a very handy mark and whilst the next race will be somewhat of a learning race, we think he could be good fun for the rest of the year, and opening his account!
